1952 was the year of Cadillac's fiftieth anniversary. Only minor changes of style and ornaments were seen with respect to the 1951 model, but some were specially planned to commemorate the occasion. For example, the V-shaped hood and cover emblems were made of gold-cast pieces. The Series 62 sedan was also characterized by a distinct contour of the upper rear deck. This provided additional luggage space. Backup lights were standard equipment and were now incorporated into the taillights. The wrap-around grid panels were redesigned. Now they had a wide chrome decoration beneath each headlamp with a side shovel style and a golden winged emblem mounted in the center. At the rear, all models adopted a new Cadillac brand name, a dual exhaust system through the bumper. The new standards included automatic winding watches, Hydra-Matic dual-range transmission, improved direction indicators, anti-glare mirrors, four-mouth carburation, hydraulic windows remained as regular equipment in convertibles and Coupe De Villes.

The Dodge Coronet was a full size car manufactured by the Dodge Division of Chrysler Corporation between 1949 and 1976. The 1959 Dodge Coronet belonged to the fourth generation (1957-1960) of this manufacturer.
The 1958 and 1959 Coronet, Royal, and Custom Royal used a DeSoto Fireflite chassis but had less ornate trim. Power came from the 230 cu in (3.8 L) "Getaway" L-head straight-6 or the 325 cu in (5.3 L) "Red Ram" V8. In 1959 a Silver Challenger model was also offered on the Coronet line. This was a six-cylinder or V-8 model available only in silver paint and only on a two-door body. It came with many extra features at no cost, such as wall-to-wall deep pile carpeting, premium white wall tires and wheel covers, luxury fabrics and upgraded interior and electric windshield wipers. The overall length was inctreased to 217.4 inches.

The Monterey (model 72C) was introduced in 1950 as a high-end two-door coupe as part of the Mercury Eight series in the same vein as the Ford Crestliner, the Lincoln Lido coupe and the Lincoln Cosmopolitan Capri coupe in order to compete with the hardtop coupes General Motors had introduced the previous model year. Montereys had either a canvas covered top for $2146 or vinyl for $2157. Standard features included leather faced seats, simulated leather headliner, wool carpets, chrome-plated interior garnish moldings, two-toned dashboard, special black steering wheel, fender skirts, dual outside rearview mirrors, full wheelcovers & gold winged hood ornament. For $10 more all leather seats were an option. Two special colors were offered, Turquoise Blue with dark blue top and Cortaro Red metallic with black top. Black with yellow top was also available. Few Montereys were sold.
Mercury got a styling and engineering redesign for 1952, such as 18% more window area. Monterey became a separate series and Mercury's top model line, a convertible and four-door sedan were included in the new series lineup. The heater and vent controls were changed to levers and placed on a plane set perpendicular to the dash behind the steering wheel, inspired by flight controls in large aircraft. A station wagon bowed for 1953, the same year a Siren Red Monterey Convertible became Ford's forty-millionth car produced. 1954 saw the introduction of the new 161 hp (120 kW) overhead valve Ford Y-block V8, as well as the bubble-top Monterey Sun Valley, which had a Plexiglas front half roof which was similar to that of the Ford Crestline Skyliner. The 1954 Montereys also received other alterations, such as new, lower taillights.

The Pontiac Pathfinder was introduced on the Canadian market only in 1953 and was produced until 1958. The car was an instant hit and Pontiac models continued to increase in popularity – production soared to 44,369 vehicles in 1953. The Pathfinder series, its name suggesting a car suitable for the exploration of Canada’s rugged terrain, was joined by the up-scale Pontiac Laurentian series, named after the popular mountain vacation region of Quebec. By 1958, the post-World War II economic boom began to decline and car sales slowed – for many car makers except Pontiac which saw another record-breaking sales year. In 1959, Pathfinder marque was replaced with Strato-Chief, and the Pathfinder line came to an end.
